In 2016, Bosch Rexroth India recorded some remarkable achievements in terms of sales and saw growth in production and engineering activities by maintaining basically zero overtime and zero accidents, even in a difficult business environment. Despite this, Bangert feels that there is enormous space available to grow further.

“The key success factor for managing challenges caused by a volatile market is agility. In production, for example, we show great flexibility through multi-skilling. Our skilled workforce is trained for different operations. A technician on the assembly line can, at any time, also work at the end of line, testing our products. Another pre-condition is good quality sales forecasting, where departments in the entire value stream work closely together, from sales to logistics. This enables us to cater better for the volatile requirements of our customers,” he states.

In order to be able to compete better in 2017, Bangert stresses on the need for innovation, agility and competitiveness. He adds, “Companies engaged in the Indian market must be in the position to engineer and manufacture products that fulfil tomorrow’s requirements of customers. This applies to, for example, Connected Industry or Industry 4.0, where the products become increasingly intelligent and are connected to each other. Strategic initiatives need therefore to be taken by Indian companies to stay and lead as global players, such as investments in R&D, manufacturing and application engineering.”
