Alstom is currently executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow, where it will be supplying rolling stock manufactured out of its state-of-the-art facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. In the mainline space, Alstom is executing signalling & power supply systems for the 343km section on World Bank-funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.

Construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 numbers of high horse power locomotives is also in full swing at Madhepura, Bihar. These locomotives will be the most advanced in the Indian Railways fleet and the first rollout of the finished product is expected in early 2018. Alstom has also started exporting metro train sets to Australia and is looking at more opportunities to make use of the manufacturing setup in India.

Alstom has set up an engineering centre of excellence in Bengaluru, and this coupled with a strong manufacturing base (in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar) as well as localised supply chains, is uniquely positioned to serve both Indian as well as global markets. Alstom in India currently employs close to 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds, and is ramping up operations to cater to increasing demand in the sub-continent.
