Power List – Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles
Automakers are racing against time to meet the April 1 deadline to make their product range compliant with the Bharat Standard VI emission standards. Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) is ready with its BS VI portfolio.
VECV is the exclusive manufacturing hub for Volvo’s automotive requirement for their medium-and heavy-duty trucks. It has a lot of experience in handling Euro VI technology. It’s a very complex technology. It has to go through a lot of tests so that there are no faults when it runs on the road. All this VECV was able to incorporate at the design stage itself.
VECV takes help from Volvo but product development, design, and adoption is Eicher’s responsibility. They do it themselves but under the advice and guidance of Volvo’s technology experts. One has to adopt these technologies in a frugal way.
‘Smart trucks’ are going to be its big competitive advantage. Its telematics and connectivity are going to be very advanced. The company plans to offer timely services based on connectivity. It has already set up a control centre at its plant where the team can take control of all its vehicles whether at the dealers’
workshop or on the road.
VECV has very advanced analytics that can guide them about the problems with the functioning of its trucks on a real-time basis about driver and engine behaviour. With BS-VI there’s going to be a lot more electronics in the vehicle based on which one can get a lot more productivity and leverage the technology like never before.
