Power List 2020 – Henkel
It is an age of disruption. The market and applications are changing with a rapid pace. An unknown application of yesterday becomes a known application today. Therefore, we have been emphasising on our research & development efforts.
Additionally, we believe that collaboration is a key to success. We have been collaborating with our customers continuously to understand their needs and applications better. For this, we have a Technical Centre and Product Development Centre in Navi Mumbai. Speaking from the technology implementation perspective, Industry 4.0 is a strategic priority for Henkel in 2020. Digitalisation of the entire value chain is what we are looking at.
Additionally, we have been emphasising on lean processes, lean manufacturing along with eliminating waste. Sustainability is an important factor. As
a result, our new manufacturing factory at Kurkumbh, near Pune, is completely LEED Gold complaint. This certification is a big achievement for a chemical company like us as one needs to follow stringent rules and regulations. From the green initiatives perspective, the plant is equipped with a rainwater harvesting system, solar panel rooftop, etc. Also, it is designed in such a way that it makes most use of the natural light during day time, eliminating use of other lighting solutions.
Speaking about the industry trends, the next step of Industry 4.0 is Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. According to me, we are yet to explore its full potential as it requires immense data to analyse. So as we use these technologies and gather data, we will be able to make most of it.
