Explaining the benefits of Vertical Machining Centres (VMC), Patil says the gravitational force helps the chips flow onto the bed which are then carried by a conveyor. “In an HMC, this is difficult. Precision is an issue if you don’t manage it properly whereas in an VMC, all the issues are addressed,” he adds.
EMAG in India offers numerous machines for turning, gear hobbing, grinding, chamfering & deburring, tube and couplings, laser-welding, ECM/PECM, joining, generators & heating systems, hardening and automation systems.

In Vertical Turning and Grinding Centres, EMAG has four models: VLC 100 GT, VLC 200 GT, VLC 250 DS, and VSC DS/DDS. The vertical turning and grinding centres has been designed for the process-capable, low-cost, precision manufacture of medium and large component batches. This applies in particular to the VLS 250 DS. Typical work pieces processed on the turning and grinding centres are gearwheels, sprockets, sliding sleeves, components for CVTs, link pins, con-rods, rocker arms, bearing rings and piston rings.

The machining process is chosen based on the workpiece and its quality requirements. The advantage for the customer is the flexibility of the machine. The machining process is chosen based on the requirements for the workpiece: hard turning, scroll-free turning or grinding – combined in all vertical turning and grinding centres.

The vertical hobbing machines combine the expertise of EMAG KOEPFER and EMAG Richardon with the standard EMAG vertical machine design.
The company has a 1,200 strong R&D team in Germany and a team size of 400 in China who work with end users and manufactures to come up with new designs.

EMAG represents SW in the Indian market for sales and service. Trautmann says, “We make around 400 machines per year. In India, there’s a demand for higher-end machines as compared to single ones earlier. Tolerances of workpieces, quantity and volumes are increasing here. The automotive industry is the largest customer here. In future, the aerospace industry would be of interest to us too.”
