Ceratizit Group
The team at Ceratizit is aware that customers are looking at smart manufacturing. Sareen says, “Our customers want to take more intelligent decisions. They want their machines to reflect that. For example, the tools could be machining materials such as cast iron or steel, and they would need regular changing. Industry 4.0 will tell the operators and that allows them to work quickly and smoothly. Decisions are more logical and based on data and that is what we are focusing on.”
Development of new products is an ongoing process for the company. “But one thing is clear. We need to bring down the time frame of launching new products. We have more than 40% of products that are less than five years and our target is 50%. Some products are so new that sometimes one encounters problems and cannot be delivered to the customer because they are not ready yet, or they may not have the equipment,” says Wolter.
“We have done better in terms of growth than our group worldwide. When we came into India we started from scratch and the growth in the automobile and other industries has helped our growth. There has been much support and investment from the group and this has helped increase our turnover five times last 10 years,” adds Sareen.
Acquisitions for the company has gone smoothly in recent times. “Most times they do not. But we were fortunate that the team from the acquired team were on the same wavelength and a recent example is that of Komet. Atul arrived and now both the departments function as one. So we haven’t had any issues fortunately,” says Nagpal.
