Henkel Adhesives Technologies India
Henkel has adopted several initiatives over the last couple of years to make their supply chain more agile. Their vision is to be an agile, adaptive, reliable and responsive supply chain organisation, keeping safety and ethical values at the core of everything that they do. In order to achieve this, they have carried out a number of steps in recent times.
The company restructured its supply chain organisation from a decentralised set-up to one which is more customer-centric with vertical functions spanning across all businesses. In addition, they hired the best of professionals and gave them responsibilities which are in line with their core competencies. Customers were segmented and service offerings were designed in accordance with the defined segments. VSM (Value stream mapping) of all supply chain processes was undertaken and all wasteful process steps were cut down on. Henkel also improved their analytics and Master Data accuracy, which has had a huge impact on enhancing their supply chain’s capability.
“We have tried to move away from the conventional production planning concepts of maximising production volumes and 100% utilisation of all production capacities. The concept of MTA (Made to Availability) was also introduced, and we drive production cycles only through PULL,” states Baxla. Further, the production wheel is defined for each production asset and production planning is done strictly in accordance with the wheel defined.
