Jaguar Land Rover, India
Volatility seen in 2016 has only strengthened JLR’s resolve to continuously be prepared for fast paced changes in the business environment. To this extent, its readiness to offer petrol variants of certain models in the JLR portfolio e.g. Jaguar XE, Jaguar XJ, RRS & RR has helped it to overcome the diesel ban challenge relatively quickly. Since then, it has further strengthened its petrol portfolio with the introduction of the petrol variants in the Discovery Sport model and Jaguar XF and other models. In light of the government of India’s thrust on digitisation, JLR has already started working at offering its customers the convenience of ordering and booking cars on an online portal. JLR was the first to have launched such a channel (www.findmeacar.in), a month before demonetisation came into being. It is important to create a niche positioning for oneself in the consumer’s mind. The Jaguar and Land Rover brands enjoy an iconic status which is further accentuated by their distinctive British design and styling heritage.
In 2009, the company entered the Indian market, with minimal local presence. However, within a span of seven years, JLR has grown 14 times in the Indian market. Consumer demand has encouraged it to introduce its best portfolio of premium vehicles, to satiate the needs of the market. Going forward to ensure a sustained growth in India, it plans to continue to introduce new products from the JLR stable which combine innovative technologies with new age design.
Recently, it introduced an internationally acclaimed state-of-the-art ingenium diesel engine, designed and engineered from scratch at its Engine Manufacturing Centre in the West Midlands in thenew Jaguar XF, the all new Jaguar F-PACE and in Range Rover Evoque.
