“In terms of the power and coal sector, I would like to highlight that the government of India has adopted an integrated approach towards the entire value chain – from the stage of coal production to final consumption by end consumer. Their mission to ensure 24X7 electricity for all requires increased availability of coal and Coal India is turning around things in this regard, which in turn is fueling Make in India. Furthermore, mine developer-cum-operator (MDO) tenders have provided very competitive prices recently, which suggest that MDO is the way forward for the mining industry in India,” says Prakash.
Adani Group proclaims itself as India’s first ‘full-service’ MDO, stating that no other party follows this MDO concept on a full-ownership basis. For instance, their Rajasthan contract works on turnkey basis. They acquire land, resettle villages, mine & wash coal, invest in railways, transport the coal and deliver it to the TPS, which is the final point of consumption. This project was started in the shortest possible time.
Adani’s business model aligns the entire supply chain through technology, which brings in efficiency & productivity in the system. Their CSR initiatives have ensured that they win the confidence of the local community, which is crucial for success in the mining business. All their efforts are oriented towards staying true to the title of being a ‘Responsible Green Miner’.
