The pandemic has given everyone dimensions to learn, adopt and live with. Thanks to the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, companies are aiming to reduce their dependencies on imports.

Most have taken off faster with excellent operational parameters like high quality, high productivity, well trained workmen, well maintained and integrated manufacturing resources. The acceptance and adoption of automation in manufacturing is now given priority to manage activities and aimed at lesser people dependency.

The manufacturing industry is preparing to resume operations and health strategies are laid out to build a stronger foundation. Firms are focusing on bringing production back to the pre-lockdown levels. A balance between deploying people and machines was in vogue, more automation is on the cards but that’s a long-term goal. Besides maintaining social distancing norms, fixing the supply-side is focused on. The game is on strategizing around securing raw materials, managing costs, up-skilling workforce, and getting back workers who may have migrated back to their homes. Supply dependency is most screamed term during pandemic and hence we would see a drastic change and improvement in supply chain strategies. Planning process has also taken a shift from quarterly and monthly planning to daily and weekly planning this is where Smart Factory would make its future entry.
