MG Motor India – Gaurav Gupta, chief commercial officer
MG Motor India was clear that it will neither downsize its workforce nor will it slash the salaries of its employees. At MG, it firmly stands with the community and the workforce is the primary building block of the same. In fact, they were amongst the only few employers who even extended an appraisal to employees in 2020.
When operations started resuming, all guidelines extended by the government were followed. It was enforced across the corporate offices, dealerships, and manufacturing facilities. MG further extended enhanced insurance cover to its 5,000 direct and dealership-based employees across the country. It was also quick to introduce a contactless safety suite ‘MG SHIELD+’ and offered everything from MGCARE@Home and Over-The-Air updates to a contactless audio-guided feature demonstration at showrooms MG V PHY to our customers.
At present, it is operating with a staggered workforce across business units and following all relevant safety precautions.
Apart from a staggered workforce, there is a push for digitally driven operations. At its manufacturing facilities, AGVs and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) have come in handy. Sanitisation of the entire manufacturing facility frequently while doing the same for any sourced material to protect employees is common.
