Brakes India has been delivering worldclass braking solutions for passenger vehicles, light & heavy commercial vehicles, tractor and OHVs since 1962. The TVS Group in partnership with ZF has provided a strong product range with a variety of safety critical products like foundation brakes, actuation systems including ABS, hose assemblies, ferrous castings, brake fluids and coolants.

It has a robust manufacturing system that is vertically integrated with quality, cost, delivery and response as focus areas. Brakes India uses customised Brakes India Production System which leverages cellular manufacturing and lean manufacturing techniques. It has also adopted use of automation through CNC machines, PLCs and robotic controls, using sensor and vision-based mistake proofing, and are now moving into a more digital shop  floor. Continuous training and development to the entire workforce are provided and its shop floor operators go through the intensive training in its in-house skill development centres or technical training centre.

Brakes India prefers to go in for a global product design. It has invested over Rs. 1300 crore last 10 years, with a footprint of 15 plants across India. Apart from this, it has a well-equipped R&D facility including a world-class high-speed test track, with capability to design, develop and validate brake systems. It sources most parts locally, helping develop the SME base. The company also manages one of the largest iron foundries in India, with plants near Chennai, Gujarat and in Oman. They are renowned for their equipment and quality and process control. The foundry division exports almost 70% of produced castings across the world and the products are used in safety critical applications globally.
