Power List 2020 – Godrej Aerospace
Godrej Aerospace began its operation in a small way, back in 1985, with development of critical, high precision spacecraft components, made out of exotic alloys. Since then, the division has changed in leaps and bounds as per the needs of the customers. For many years, we focused on metalic components. While looking at new opportunities, around three years ago, we ventured into rubber and composites. This was supported by immense research and development done by our team internally.
With our foray into non-metallic segments, we have also established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. We have invested about Rs. 20-25 crore into this plant.
Some of the products that the company produces in this segment include conductive and non-conductive seals which are made for either extremely low or high temperatures as per the customer’s requirement.
The aerospace market fared very well last year. We are aiming at reducing imports in the aerospace sector by focusing on developing products in-house.
That is our contribution towards the government’s Make in India initiative. With the aerospace and defence markets faring well in the country, the future of this industry is bright. Although today we see small contribution of this industry towards the economy, it is poised to grow in coming 3-5 years. We have been working with various OEMs such as BrahMos, L&T Defence, ISRO, etc. With our strong R&D capabilities, we are focussing on delivering innovative solutions to our customers even in the future reducing dependency on the imports.
