50 Manufacturing Companies - Fiat india Automobiles

In the last one year, Fiat India Automobiles rolled out new vehicles and one engine from its world class facility in Ranjangaon. The company exports the Made in India Jeep Compass to 13 international right-hand drive markets across the world, including Japan, UK and Australia. “It makes us proud that the quality and build of the Jeep Compass being exported is exactly the same in India as well. The Compass has been well received in international markets. As the world is going digital, we have upgraded our SCM to be digital-ready, and carried out a few POCs to track real time movements of goods and services within our facility to best respond to production dynamics to support changing customer needs,” says Pathak.
This helps the company monitor real time movement of incoming as well as outgoing FG goods in its premises. It is expanding the digital supply chain concept with use of technology to further deepen real time tracking at component level within the premises to enhance efficiency of supply chain to meet ever changing customer needs in a timely manner.
In the short to medium term, Pathak says e-tailers giving stiff competition to brick and mortar companies. However, he adds, that brick and mortar companies will still be able to survive and grow, but in the long run, will need to revisit their supply chain models and tweak them so as to align with e-tailers in terms of delivery lead times and costs (ordering cost, warehousing costs, delivery costs, etc). They will need to deep dive into the changing consumer landscape and preferences to understand their strengths and weaknesses and bridge the gaps by way of smart alignment with other companies.
He is aware that those days are bygone when an ideal supply chain model was imagined. “In the digital world, information flows seamlessly. Consumers have a heightened sense about products and shorter lifecycles and technology is forcing companies to add features/products at a fast pace. Geo-political situations have become dynamic. Companies must adopt a flexible supply chain which can handle the dynamics of both supply as well as demand,” says Pathak.
