Besides managing India operations, Pratyush Kumar will also lead Boeing Defence Programme in the US. Kumar has been selected to lead the F-15 fighter aircraft programme in the US, and will focus on furthering the F-15 business in the US and globally. During his tenure, Boeing launched an engineering and technology centre in Bengaluru, scaled up its aerospace supply chain, and established a JV in Hyderabad with Tata to manufacture fuselages for the Apache attack helicopter. Kumar also led the effort on skill-development for aircraft maintenance engineers along with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air India Engineering Services, and the HorizonX India Innovation Challenge that will nurture three start-ups to create aerospace innovations in India. Boeing has over 160 partners in India, and annual sourcing from India stands at $1 billion.
Recently, India was officially handed over the first of the Chinook helicopters at Boeing’s facility in Philadelphia.  In 2015, India had placed the order for 22 AH-64E Apache attack, and 15 CH-47F(I) Chinook transport helicopters and will receive all of them in 2019. These are the newest models which are expected to help modernise the Indian Air Force’s fleet. According to Boeing, Apache is the world’s leading multi-role attack helicopter and CH-47F Chinook is an advanced multi-mission helicopter.
