Last year, Marico announced a strategic investment in Revolutionary Fitness by agreeing to acquire upto 22.5% equity stake, through primary and secondary infusions. Revolutionary Fitness owns Revofit – an integrated fitness and holistic wellness solutions app (available on Android and iOS), which provides a 3600 approach to a healthy lifestyle. It helps urban, health conscious, working professionals build healthy habits and enables easy access to all health needs, be it diet, fitness, nutrition or exercise.
Marico’s focus on sustainable profitable growth is manifest through its consistent financial performance, a CAGR of 10% in turnover and 18% in profits over the past 5 years.
The company also launched a new range of premium products called Studio X under its male grooming brand – Set Wet. Studio X is Marico’s first digital exclusive brand. One of the things it is doing now is slowly carving out a new business vertical which will look into these new brands. It is calling it Engine 2. So Engine 1 is its core, which will still be 90% of the business as it runs on a repeatable model of scale, efficiency, and growth. Engine 2 is a bit more entrepreneurial, the people working here could be under different remuneration and long-term incentive policies. This will work differently, it will have a different time cycle.
