Recently, Mahindra & Mahindra partnered with Greaves Cotton to source BS-VI-compliant powertrain solutions. As part of the partnership, Greaves Cotton will provide affordable last-mile mobility solutions through BS-VI powertrain solutions to Mahindra. These will be used in Mahindra 3-wheelers. Greaves has been focused on improving productivity and efficiency of powertrains by investing in new technology-based solutions. It has made progress in developing production-ready fuel agnostic powertrain solutions for the last mile mobility solutions and services.
Greaves Cotton also supplies engines to Piaggio, Atul Auto, TVS, Tata Motors, and other regional three-wheeler makers. The current automotive powertrains include a range of single-cylinder diesel engines (6kW BS-III/BS-IV, 7.5kW BS-III/BS-IV and 8.8kW BS-III/BS-IV); a range of CNG and LPG engines (5.38kW BS-III/BS-IV, 6.7kW BS-III/BS-IV and 11kW BS-IV), and a range of two (33-54hp unit pump common-rail BS-IV), three- and four-cylinder engines. Many of these engines are BS-VI ready, and form part of the new powertrain solutions development. At Auto Expo 2018, it showcased a BS-VI compliant multi-cylinder turbocharged inter-cooled diesel and a CNG engine built in technical association with Pinnacle Engines and Altigreen Solutions.
