Setting High Standards

Lokendra Singh, MD, Ross Process Equipment, has done his best to create products and solutions for indian and the global market.

What are some of the innovative engineering you follow for the range of diverse products?
In Process Equipment growing with competitive business means getting your basics right. We focus and apply fundamentals of basic engineering to design and develop mechanisms with mix of latest technology in our machines which are simple to use, operate and maintain at the customers end.
Each of our equipment undergo tremendous R&D internally before we launch them. Our product lines were rigorously tested and established in our US facilities and then launched worldwide.

What are the unique processes at your plants?
The robust polishing machine in our shop is a good example. This machine helps avoid manual handling of the precision machined items while polishing thus avoiding damages. The time saved in polishing work is almost 50%.
We believe in training our people so that employees understand what is needed for producing world-class products and meet performance and durability.

You cater to niche industries. How do you work out the design of products?
Ross has been around since 1842 and has its own standard designed equipment. We know what customers want when they approach us and have products for various applications.
Most of our designs are made in the US and replicated in India. But that does not stop us from innovating and we keep adding technology and trends. In fact we also re-invent the design for local needs and accordingly new developments are suggested to our US offices as well. All our plants are interlinked and support changes in design of products which ensures that each plant produces similar products worldwide.
We also make customised equipment, wherein every machine is designed for exclusive customers and help them to understand their operational/application challenges, etc.
We invite customers to our laboratory in Pune where we display actual products and also conduct trials simulating plant operating conditions. Many of our customers have benefitted with this initiative. This standalone initiative makes us a leader in industrial mixers.

Ross’ plant caters to demand for equipment
Ross Process Equipment is the Indian arm of Charles Ross & Son Company. Set up in 2007, we have a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Chakan, which commenced operations in January 2008. The 100,000 sq-ft plant caters to quality equipment.
The company is headquartered in New York, and is into manufacturing of industrial mixing, blending, drying and dispersion equipment since 1842.
The mixers and blenders are designed and built in company owned plants in the US, China and India. All the plants are equipped with advanced engineering and manufacturing tools. The company has five plants, an 8,000 sq-ft test and development centre and an R&D programme in the US. It also has two plants in China and one in India.
Ross’ equipment are innovatively designed and manufactured for dispersion, drying, blending, emulsification, homogenisation, particle size reduction, high viscosity compounding, sub surface powder induction, agitated vacuum drying and other processes. Ross India has been engaged in providing customised tanks, agitators, pressure vessels and reactors as per demand. The plant is making a range of products including dispersers, high shear mixers, kneaders, multi shaft mixers, planetary mixers, ribbon- paddle blenders, solids/liquid injection, static mixers, three roll mills, tumble blenders, vacuum drying systems, vacuum mixers homogenisers, vertical blender and discharge system.
The products serve a spectrum of industries including chemical, adhesives and sealants, battery, pharma, explosives, food, polymers, plastics and composites, paints, inks and coating, metals and ceramics, cosmetics and personal care. It strives to be the world leader in mixing and blending technology. They efficiently reach out to all parts of India through a sales and service network.
The newly-developed test lab provides process-line simulations enabling customers to identify the best possible equipment before making a purchase. The facility will help in identifying customers’ exact needs and deciding on the best solution for it.
