Lakshmi Machine Works foundry makes precision castings for industries from all over the world. The company has added the Advanced Technology Centre, which manufactures aerospace industry components.
K Soundhar Rajhan, Director – Operations, Business Head MTD, Foundry & ATC, Lakshmi Works Ltd and K Gowrishankar, Senior General Manager Marketing at the company, spoke to MT on the products promoted at the exhibition, the new launches and their general perception of the industry and business outlook.
The company was very excited to be at the venue after four years gap to promote the machines they had developed during the period, particularly the HMCs (Horizontal Machining Centres) with the pallet changes and high precision machines that were on display at the venue.
They were also displaying VMC machines that Rajhan said were very well received by the customers. In addition to the automation of the two turning centres exhibited, they had a very high-speed TDC that did up to 24,000 rpm. “Our 4 Ps of Precision, Performance, Productivity and Prosperity were at the centre of our focus in our participation at the IMTEX 23,” said Rajhan, who was confident the company would get good acknowledgement from the visitors.
Gowrishankar took the turn to speak on the company’s technological developments and breakthroughs, showcased at the exhibition. He pointed out that the company had ten products on display, of which five were new. They addressed the customers’ demand for accuracy, precision and productivity.
Briefing about the products, Gowrishankar cited the three-machine series of CNC turning centres, of which one with next-generation features delivering higher speed and accuracy was on display. Even in the looks department, it had a contemporary look that gave an international feel to it. Vertical Machine Centre with pallet changes was a long-time demand from the customers, which the company had delivered and was on display.
“We deliver machines at par with those in the international market and a little better,” said Gowrishankar. On the sensor side, he spoke of the JH500, the new-generation horizontal machining centre. It is a versatile machine addressing the need of the automobile industry primarily but also Oil & Gas and other sectors. He talked of the JG50, a moving column vertical machining centre with an actual high speed of 64-meter rapids and 16,000 rpm spindle primarily targeted at aluminium die casting.
Apart from the new launches, they had other product enhancements on display. The company looks at itself as an integrated solution provider.
“We don’t give the machine. We give a total solution,” remarked Gowrishankar.
