Sterlite Power, a power transmission infrastructure developer and solutions provider, commences its seventh aviation operation!
The aerial operations have been initiated to expedite the construction of company’s flagship Mumbai Urja Marg Project (MUML). State-of-the-art lightweight helicopters have been deployed to overcome the challenges of terrain and speed up the material transfer. This is expected to engender faster completion of the 400kV transmission corridor connecting Padgha to Khargar, which links Mumbai to the national grid.
Over the course of two months, the aerial operations will facilitate the transportation of approximately 3,000 metric tonnes of material. The AS 350 B3 lightweight helicopter, capable of carrying up to 1,000 kgs per sortie, will be utilised to transport heavy equipment and materials across various locations in and around the Mumbai region. Additionally, a 13-acre helicopter yard has been constructed to accommodate and load the helicopter for its sorties.
Speaking on the occasion, Manish Agarwal, Director & CEO – India Transmission, Sterlite Power, highlighted that the company’s endeavor has always been to use technology as a harbinger of greater good and development. The aviation operation is a proactive step forward and will significantly benefit MUML by reducing the turnaround time for the delivery of materials, thus, speeding up the project execution. With these innovative technological interventions, the company aims to continue addressing the key constraints of time, space, and capital to deliver the toughest projects on or before time, he added.
The Mumbai Urja Marg project is a project of national significance. It will play an indispensable role in meeting the increasing electricity requirements of Mumbai. Hence, it is being closely monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office via the PRAGATI Portal. Upon completion, the project will have the capacity to transmit over 2000 MW of additional power to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
