Schneider Electric sets the future of manufacturing ablaze with an investment of INR 140 crores Kolkata

Schneider Electric lays foundation of its new state-of-the-art factory in Kolkata

Schneider Electric has announced the groundbreaking ceremony of its new manufacturing plant in Kolkata, India. The 9-acre facility, set to be completed by February 2024, will involve an investment of INR 140 crores and will significantly grow Schneider Electric’s capacity in producing products such as Vacuum Interrupters (VI) and strengthen its power systems vertical. Nitin Bakshi, Vice President of Global Supply Chain for India, MEA, SAM & Pacific at Schneider Electric, stated that the development of this factory would strengthen India’s growing position as a global force in manufacturing and exports, exporting 50% of the peak volume capacity and meeting the needs of customers both in India and across the world.

This upcoming world-class factory in Kolkata aims to accelerate Schneider Electric’s commitment to “Make in India” and cement India’s position as a world leader in exports and manufacturing. Deepak Sharma, Zone President (Designate) – Greater India, Schneider Electric, expressed his gratitude towards the Government of India and West Bengal for their support and stated that Schneider Electric will continue to contribute actively towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat by manufacturing in India for India and the globe.

Schneider Electric’s focus on technology and sustainability has led to the announcement of several new smart factories in India. In December 2022, the company consolidated six of its existing factories to launch one of its largest smart factories globally in Bengaluru. In September 2022, the groundbreaking of a new smart factory in Hyderabad was announced. Schneider Electric’s existing smart factory in Hyderabad has been recognised as an Advanced Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum.
