During the Global Investors Summit 2023 in Visakhapatnam, Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced plans to establish a 10-gigawatt solar energy project in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to create 50,000 new job opportunities in the state and help promote sales of products made in Andhra through Reliance’s retail business.
Ambani also highlighted the company’s investments of over ₹1.5 lakh crore in the KG D-6 gas field in the Krishna-Godavari basin, which is fueling India’s clean energy transition and contributing to nearly 30% of the country’s gas production.
Additionally, Reliance Retail has partnered with over 120,000 kirana merchants across 6,000 villages in Andhra Pradesh, creating over 20,000 direct jobs and sourcing more agri and agro-based products and manufactured goods from the state. Ambani said this would increase the incomes of farmers, artisans and others, and create over 50,000 livelihood opportunities.
