Oxbotica and Google Cloud to accelerate autonomous solutions

Google Cloud will allow Oxbotica to bring its vision for autonomous driving to life, by helping it deploy and scale its operating system in the cloud

Oxbotica, a UK-based autonomous vehicle software developer, has teamed up with Google Cloud to hasten the roll-out of its autonomous software platform worldwide. The collaboration merges Google Cloud’s cloud infrastructure expertise with Oxbotica’s autonomous vehicle software to create scalable, safe, and reliable autonomous driving solutions. The businesses that would benefit from the partnership include public transport, light industry, and last-mile logistics. The collaboration will leverage Google Cloud products such as compute, storage, and networking, alongside data and analytics products such as Vertex AI, to help develop, test, validate, and verify Oxbotica’s self-driving technology. Additionally, Google Cloud’s cybersecurity technologies will help guarantee the secure use of autonomous mobility technology.

Aside from the self-driving platform’s core development, Oxbotica plans to use Google Cloud to create digital twins in its MetaDriver, an AI-powered metaverse that combines and controls virtual and physical fleets while delivering real-time analytics on performance. The metaverse generates a vast virtual scenario bank to ensure autonomous vehicle safety. Google Cloud will provide data and machine learning tools that enable MetaDriver to use Oxbotica’s proprietary generative AI tools to develop scenarios, including uncommon edge cases that are typically economically, environmentally, or physically unfeasible to uncover in conventional testing.

By using the cloud’s scalability, Oxbotica can quickly analyze and process these vast datasets, learn across various use cases, speed up time-to-insights, and enable more testing and experimentation, thereby enhancing technology safety. The collaboration will positively impact the lives of end-users in several industrial use cases from public transportation to last-mile logistics.
