Konecranes along with Manufacturing Today organised a day long competition for manufacturing companies at their plant in Jejuri.
The competition was held to observe Industrial Safety Week that falls from March 5 to 8. Konecranes is a strong supporter of industrial safety and has done much in the way of creating and adhering to strong systems in their own plant.
The competition saw participation from 14 reputed manufacturing, some of who travelled from Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Rajasthan, among other places. Jejuri is not a destination that one can easily travel to to make a presentation for 15 minutes. But that is the spirit of the manufacturing industry. The companies that participated came with presentations that showed some of the stringent measures they have put in place to make safety a strong practice at their workplace.
The companies that participated were: AkzoNobel, Bajaj Auto, VECV, Gabriel India, Honda Cars, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volkswagen, V-Guard, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, Henkel Adhesives, JBM Auto, Hyundai Motor, Forbes Marshall, and Tata Motors.
All the presentations excelled in their methodology and systems so much that the Jury had a tough time picking out the winner. Mahindra & Mahindra took home the winning trophy and the cheque of Rs 75,000, which was the prize for the winner. In their presentation, they highlighted the proactive approach they took besides achieving zero incidents at the plant.
Gabriel India spoke on the Skill Book, besides categorising risk based machines, linking life critical process and skills.
The evening ended with much applause for the participants not to forget the barrage of questions that each team had for the competing teams. Looks like Indian companies are working seriously towards safety which leads to profitability and a good reputation in the long run.
