HMS Networks’ analysis shows that the industrial network market is expected to grow by 7 per cent in 2023, with Industrial Ethernet (IE) accounting for 68 per cent of new installed nodes. Fieldbuses declined to 24 per cent, while wireless grew to 7 per cent.
PROFINET and EtherNet/IP share the top spot with 18 per cent market share each, followed by EtherCAT at 12 per cent. Fieldbuses lead with 6 per cent market share. Wireless grew the fastest at 22 per cent. Regional variations show EtherNet/IP dominates the US market, PROFINET leads the Asian market, and EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and EtherCAT are leading in Europe and the Middle East.
