On the occasion of World Environment Day, DRI, the flagship company of Pahwa Group, partnered with Sapna NGO to inaugurate the DRI Sustainable Agriculture Resource Center in Dadhikar village, Alwar. The centre was inaugurated by Anandita Pahwa, Head-CSR Initiatives of Pahwa Group, in the presence of Jagdish Prasad Sharma, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Alwar; Sudhir Pratap Singh, General Secretary and Ranvir Singh, Secretary, Sapna NGO.
The centre aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices and improve soil health and fertility through natural methods. It is expected to benefit over 150 farmers in the area by providing them with training and support as they transition to organic farming techniques. To kickstart the project, the centre will distribute four types of organic khad to the villagers from the new centre.
Earlier this year, the company also inaugurated a check dam in the same area of Dadhikar village, Alwar. According to Anandita Pahwa the underground water levels have gone up since the construction of the check dams in the area, allowing the farmers some respite in terms of the availability of water.
DRI Sustainable Agriculture Resource Center will act as a catalyst of change and arm the farmers with resources to move away from synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, towards using organic farming products, she added.
The primary objective of the Sustainable Agriculture Resource Center is to raise awareness about organic farming and increase crop productivity. It aims to maintain and enhance long-term soil fertility while preventing pests and diseases.
The centre will serve as a hub for farmer training and capacity building, hosting workshops and training sessions on organic farming techniques. It will provide education on soil management, composting, natural pest control, crop rotation, and demonstrate various organic techniques suitable for the local conditions. Pahwa Group has also undertaken plantation drives and afforestation to increase green cover and improve air quality, helping to restore the ecosystem.
