Delta’s Americas HQ achieves LEED Zero Energy, first in Fremont

The green building would contribute even further to the company’s RE100 initiative.

Delta Electronics has achieved LEED Zero Energy certification for its Americas HQ in Fremont, making it the first green building in Fremont and second in the Silicon Valley Bay Area to receive this accolade. Delta’s own solutions, including a new solar PV carport and a 330kWh energy storage system, helped the building generate over 1.4 million kWh of renewable electricity. Other upgrades include the optimisation of energy management with Delta’s next-generation SCADA system and building control platform. Delta’s solutions are nurturing sustainable cities, with 32 green buildings enabled worldwide.

Lily Mei, the Mayor of Fremont, stated that Delta Electronics, a company that sets the industry standard for building performance, continues to lead the way in clean technology. Their built-to-suit Americas HQ in Fremont was one of the earliest private sector LEED Platinum facilities in California, and now they have achieved LEED Zero-Energy, making it the second facility in the entire Bay Area to do so. Mei expressed pride that Delta Electronics showcases sustainability through the thoughtful application of technology, including using its Fremont facility as a proving ground for many of its own products while working through pandemic disruptions to invest further in the community.

In a statement, Kelvin Huang, the President of Delta Electronics (Americas), expressed his gratitude and said that Fremont had been the home of Delta Electronics in the Americas for more than 30 years. He also said that it was an honour for the company to contribute to the community with the environmental and social benefits of the city’s very first LEED Zero Energy green building. Huang added that with its net-zero energy capabilities, Delta Electronics’ Americas HQs green building would contribute even further to the company’s RE100 initiative, which is a promise to power its worldwide operations with renewable electricity by 2030. He emphasised that by developing smart energy-saving solutions capable of fostering green buildings and sustainable cities, Delta Electronics demonstrated that its ESG-embedded business model could bolster mankind’s environmental goals.
