Cochin to Middle East: DP World’s ‘PIC2’ empowers global trade

The new service operated by Unifeeder aims to boost South India’s connectivity and facilitate trade with the Middle East.

DP World, a global provider of smart end-to-end supply chain solutions, has launched a new weekly service called ‘PIC2’ at its International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) in Cochin. This service, operated by Unifeeder Group, aims to enhance the connectivity between the East Coast of India and Cochin, ultimately extending to the Middle East.

The ‘PIC2’ service will facilitate seamless transportation between various Indian ports such as Chennai, Krishnapatanam, Visakhapatnam, Tuticorin, Kandla, and Karachi, and the Middle Eastern port of Jebel Ali. This development strengthens DP World Cochin’s position as a gateway for efficient trade and transportation, revolutionising the movement of goods and improving trade efficiency.

With a vessel capacity of 2407 TEUs, DP World Cochin utilises its robust infrastructure to improve operational efficiency, reduce transit times, and enable businesses to access global markets more easily. The introduction of the ‘PIC2’ service marks the fourth direct sailing weekly service offered by DP World Cochin for the Middle East region.

According to Praveen Joseph, CEO, DP World Cochin, these advancements demonstrate the company’s commitment to shaping the future of trade and logistics in India and beyond. DP World Cochin aims to leverage its multimodal connectivity and robust infrastructure to facilitate seamless transportation and foster greater trade efficiency for businesses.
