Balmer Lawrie & Co has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) for utilising the storage and warehousing space of CWC, towards providing cold chain logistics, general warehousing and other ancillary services. The validity is for a period of ten years from the date of signing the MoU.
Balmer Lawrie and CWC will leverage each other’s capabilities to meet the growing demands of the segment. The association will help them to expand their foothold in cold chain logistics, as also in the area of general warehousing and distribution pan-India.Â
The move will bolster Balmer Lawrie’s cold chain business unit, which is targeting over Rs 100 crore by 2027, and in light of this, it is setting up mini-temperature controlled warehouses having a capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 pallet positions in tier-II and III cities across the country. Moreover, challenges related to the supply gap in the cold chain logistics segment will be addressed for improved functioning.
The synergy is expected to channel Balmer Lawrie’s expertise and the presence of CWC at the most strategic locations, which will help to explore mutually beneficial business opportunities in the cold chain logistics sector. CWC boasts a network of 458 warehouses across the country, besides the availability of other infrastructure.
