Alstom, United Way partner for rural development in Gujarat

’Alstom as a part of its CSR initiative, in collaboration with United Way, has initiated ‘Rural Rising’– an integrated rural development program

Alstom and United Way partner for integrated rural development program in Gujarat. “Rural Rising” targets water, health, hygiene, environment, livelihood, and sustainable energy practices. Solar streetlights and digital classrooms benefit 800 students. 52 girls use the Tailoring Lab set up for vocational courses.

Forty women members receive vocational and entrepreneurship training, while Persons with Disabilities receive support for mobility and livelihood. A “GendHer” campaign promotes reproductive health, gender sensitivity, inclusion, and safe spaces in schools. Hathipura Secondary Govt. School receives four new toilets and an RO Water ATM to dispense safe drinking water. Volunteers plant over 400 saplings at two government schools.

Olivier Loison, Managing Director at Alstom India, believes in enhancing communities through socio-economic development for sustainable living. The program’s convergence model aligns with government schemes and partnerships with government and private partners. The solar streetlights enhance safety, offset carbon emissions, and promote a clear environment. United Way and Alstom aim to improve the overall standard of living in Manjusar and Hathipura.
