A customised accelerated programme, Global Manufacturing Leadership Programme (GMLP), has been conceptualised and implemented to attract high calibre technical talent at the Aditya Birla Group. The uniqueness of this programme is unlike other organisations which have lateral hiring as a response to a vacancy in the organisation.
GMLP is not vacancy driven and operates with the aim of proactively seeking technical professionals to groom them to be the next manufacturing leaders. HR Shashikant, Group Executive President, Group Human Resources, Aditya Birla Group, asserts, “We instituted a one of- its kind program like GMLP in 2011.
This is a premium technical talent recruitment programme offered by the Aditya Birla Group to middle- and senior-level technical talent in the manufacturing space. It is a programme that helps create leaders who can take on challenging roles across the diverse manufacturing business sectors of the Group that comprise metals, cement, textiles, pulp and fibre, chemicals, mining, carbon black, insulators and fertilisers.”
A rigorous selection process spanning four months involving senior leadership of the Group consisting of CEO s, Chief People Officers, Business Directors and Technical Heads help handpick the best. The selected candidates are given diverse exposures in global manufacturing locations in functions apart from their area of expertise.
Shashikant adds, “We have received a strong traction in a short span of launching the programme. GMLP has gained momentum with it being considered aspirational by the technical professionals’ fraternity in India.”
