AMRL SEZ, a multi-product SEZ marketed by Attivo, is set to turn Make In India dream into reality. The company has created an integrated industrial zone over 2,518 acres in Nanguneri in the Tirunelveli district of Tami Nadu, enabling both global and national manufacturers to establish and expand their manufacturing facilities in India.
The SEZ is ready to house a diverse set of industries – electronics, medical equipment, general engineering, auto ancillaries and components, solar and many more – and has the potential to generate employment in excess of 20,000. AMRL SEZ is strategically located and provides easy access to the Tuticorin port and airport. The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and the Madurai International Airport are in close proximity. The SEZ is also well-connected with road and rail networks, allowing industries to connect and communicate with global and national markets.
Manufacturers setting up production facilities will also benefit from assured water supply, uninterrupted power supply, world-class telecommunication infrastructure and availability of skilled, employable and inexpensive human resources. Built on smart city concepts, AMRL SEZ encompasses a SEZ with an adjoining proposed DTA (domestic tariff area) and a free trade and warehousing zone.
The SEZ has already started attracting leading corporate groups who are setting up manufacturing facilities in the AMRL SEZ. A leading medical equipment manufacturer has signed an MoU to develop a medical equipment research and manufacturing unit over 117 acres. Several global manufacturers from sectors like renewable energy, defence, aerospace, electronics, and toys have initiated discussions to set up facilities in AMRL SEZ as a part of their plan to relocate their operations from China to India. The SEZ is also being seen as an ideal destination for setting up remote location data centres.
Indranil Dasgupta, CEO, Attivo, said: “AMRL is shaping up to be a dream destination for manufacturers around the globe because of its close proximity to port, airports, road and rail networks, and also due to the availability of English speaking skilled manpower at affordable cost. At a time, when companies are planning to shift their manufacturing facilities outside China, AMRL SEZ is offering them a golden opportunity to relocate with ready-to-move-in infrastructure. We are already receiving a lot of enquiries from global manufacturers and we believe that this SEZ will act as a catalyst in turning the ‘Make In India’ dream into reality.”
Current Status: Phase 1 completed with over 250 acres of infrastructure development; currently 13 companies are operating from the SEZ and have exported close to $100 million. Phase 2 will be launched in 2021.
