The Union Minister for Defence Rajnath Singh reviewed the progress of Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor and directed completion of all works within the stipulated time.
The Centre has prepared a cabinet note on a new policy for the defence production which will be released in September 2020.
Reviewing the progress of implementation of the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed for the Defence Corridor, the state government has been directed to remain in continued contact with investors.
The work will also be expedited for land acquisition in Lucknow and Agra. Six nodes have been developed in Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Kanpur and Lucknow.
The state government has assigned 1,461 ha land for the purpose, of which 1,310 ha has been acquired, which is over 90 percent of the assigned land.
Moreover, investments to the tune of Rs 3,732 crore have been announced till now and works have started on some of them which will be further speeded up.
Under the Aligarh node, the entire planning of detailed project report (DPR), town planning and power station has been completed.
