BASF India completes divestiture of stilbene-based OBA business

BASF India has closed the previously announced transaction to divest its stilbene-based Optical Brightening Agents (OBA) business for paper and powder detergents to Archroma effective December 06, 2019. Archroma India is a member of the Archroma Group, a global leader in colour and specialty chemicals. The transaction includes the stilbene-based OBA product portfolio of BASF’s Performance Chemicals and Care Chemicals division and the manufacturing unit at Ankleshwar.

The specialty optical brightener technology Tinopal® CBS, which BASF Suisse SA manufactures at its production site in Monthey, Switzerland, will remain core to BASF’s Home Care and Industrial & Institutional Cleaning portfolio and is not in the scope of the divestiture.

Archroma is a portfolio company of SK Capital Partners, a private investment firm with focus on the specialty materials, chemicals and healthcare sectors.
