Bengaluru startup launches India’s first commercial Li-ion cell line

Log9 launched battery management system and academic program to support talent pool creation.

Log9 Materials inaugurated India’s first commercial lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility with an initial capacity of 50 MWh for EVs. The facility also launched its battery management system and academic engagement program. 

The startup has deployed almost 3,000 batteries in EVs, expanding its footprint in over 20 cities. Log9’s cells are designed for Indian operating conditions and climate, contributing to India’s self-reliance and ambitious electric mobility vision. Former principal scientific advisor to the prime minister, Dr Vijay Raghavan, praised Log9’s innovative technology and real success story, emphasizing the potential of deep tech in combating climate change. 

Former Indian Space Research Organisation chairman, Dr K Sivan, expressed delight in Log9’s significant contribution to India’s sustainability efforts. The startup’s RapidX range of EV batteries includes batteries for commercial electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers catering to last-mile deliveries designed specifically for tropical climatic conditions.
