Kollmorgen has launched the AKMA servo motor, designed for durability, cleanability, and versatility. The motor employs a hardened anodized aluminium surface as a cost-effective hygienic alternative to stainless steel in medium- to heavy-washdown applications.
With a lightweight design, high torque density, and IP69k rating, the AKMA motor is ideal for precision motion applications in food and beverage and pharmaceutical and medical industries. Its anodized aluminium surface offers strong resistance to chemicals, while its “one-piece” rounded housing structure eliminates the need for a seal to prevent water ingress. The AKMA motor also features a vented design to improve motor durability and OEE.
According to Ross McMillan, Vice President, Engineering, Kollmorgen, the company is pleased to provide the AKMA servo motors as an option for engineers who are seeking a cost-effective motor solution for wash-down environments where stainless steel surfaces are not strictly necessary. This allows for a balance of performance and value, and eliminates the need to overspend on a surface quality that may not be required.
