Bayer inaugurated a new plant at its Vapi site in the state of Gujarat. The unit will manufacture Ethiprole, an active ingredient used in insecticides for crop protection products.
The plant has been set up at an investment of EUR 24 million. The plant’s annual production capacity is 1,500 tonnes.
It will cater to domestic demand in India and export to global markets across Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Inaugurated in 1994, the Vapi site employs 1,200 full-time employees and is the company’s largest global synthetic pyrethroids production facility, with nearly 80 per cent of the production exported to US, Brazil, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.
The facility spread over 85 acre manufactures 11 active ingredients and 11 intermediates for use in crop protection, animal health, and home and garden applications.
