All the tech freaks are keeping an eye on the upcoming trends in 2023 which are going to rule the technical arena. Technology being a major source of growth and innovation for companies has gained immense importance overtime which is why it is essential to always watch out for the upcoming trends.

Since we are talking about trends in technology, trends in the IoT are something which cannot be left behind. IoT has enabled brands to enhance the way they communicate with their customers, optimise their operations and take advantage of the opportunities available.

So, let’s look at the top trends which are going to shape the future if IoT in 2023:

Role of IoT in healthcare:
IoT has already been playing its part in the healthcare sector. It is owing to the IoT that doctors are now able to keep a track of the progress of their patients’ health from home itself without the patient having to come to the hospital. This reduces the strain for the patient as well the medical staff. Also, the advent of self monitoring devices has reduced the need for going to the hospital for every minor thing by enabling people to track their health on their own.
Keeping in mind the growth that this sector has witnessed with the help of IoT, we are going to see this trend escalating in 2023. A rise of separate industry called Internet of Medical things has happened which alone is hopefully going to be a USD 350 billion industry by 2027.

Solutions for open source communities:
Serving as the strong foundation for the internet, open source communities have been strengthened by software development making IoT more easily accessible.
A very important element that comes with this development is transparency which is going to contribute significantly to increase the trust and confidence of users.

Government’s intervention in IoT:
Governments of various countries have already started intervening to make IoT more secured and regularised. For instance in 2022, we saw the EU coming up with an act called Cyber Resilience Act, 2022, which was enforced with the motive of regularising the digital products which made use of IoT. Governments of other countries are also likely to come up with their own strategies to make IoT more secure and safe. In 2023, we are very likely to witness standards being set for cybersecurity worldwide.

Contribution of IoT in information technology:
Information Technology is another sector which has gone through some very positive transformations because of IoT. We will see IoT doing a better job in contributing to the process of gathering and analyzing data which is very essential for almost all types of businesses. The role of IoT is going to transform the way things take place in different sectors like healthcare, retail, education, hospitality etc.

Security:
Efforts are already being made to make security an integral element of IoT. There is no denial of the fact that there are many advantages IoT has offered, to the various industries but the risk of personal and confidential data being exposed to some outsiders who might misuse it, hampers various entities to utilise IoT and take its advantage. Hopefully, we are going to see some concrete efforts in 2023, which would eradicate this issue. This would enable everyone to use IoT for their advantage without having to worry about the personal information being leaked and misused. The amount of investment in the IoT sector is also expected to reach $6 billion in 2023 which clearly indicates that this loophole of lack of security will be dealt with to a major extent in 2023.

With so much expected to happen in IoT, we are definitely going to see a lot of transformations taking place in the upcoming year. These transformations will also give rise to some new trends, some which could be so out-of-the-box that we cannot even imagine them taking place in reality at the moment.
