Mmc Hardmetal India

Prashant Sardeshmukh, Director

Although MMC Hardmetal India will display new products, this year the company’s focus is on training customers and employees. It wants to effectively help customers reduce their cost of components and increase productivity. Sardeshmukh says that he has often spoken about how buying a good tool is one thing and utilising that tool effectively is another. “This is where we will direct our efforts this year, and we plan to spend more time, money, and energy to train customers for effective utilisation of cutting tools,” he adds.

At the exhibition, machine tool makers will demonstrate their latest technology as well as future technology. Most customers, keen on upgrading, will balance the pros and cons of existing machines and seek out new ways to improve manufacturing concepts. MMCI is also eager to invest in future technology, which could be made available in the market in a period of six months or one year. “Only then will we plan our investment accordingly and switch from old technology to new, and we are waiting for customers to have their investment plans ready too. We will actively look out for machine tool and cutting tool makers for producing components more effectively and cost efficiently,” said Sardeshmukh.

Citing an example of the high labour cost in Gurgaon and Manesar, he says that it aids in creating labour unrest in the long run. Hence, companies based out of such locations would be highly eager to utilise their labour effectively. They would definitely prefer high technology machines that could double output per shift. Companies based out of Rajkot or areas closer to Gujarat, where the cost of labour is lower, usually prefer to go in for old technology or retrofitting of machines and produce in bulk by utilising the cheap labour. Of course, all the above points are invalid when you have to produce a component for the aerospace and defence industry.
