SAS: Strengthening the backbone of manufacturing

The learning’s and experiences that have stemmed from the pandemic and its associated lockdown have shown the degree of vulnerability many industries face; it was almost a eureka moment for the manufacturing industry on how much potential exists to emerge stronger.

Today, leaders across the spectrum of both discrete and process manufacturing unequivocally admit that digital transformation must tangibly increase business agility and resilience. Whether they are automated or manual, every decision made as part of digital transformation to achieve agility and resilience must be (IoT) data-driven, continuously evolving, and validated by analytics. When we say analytics and Analytical-IoT, we imply all forms of analytics, i.e., machine learning, deep learning & artificial intelligence as part of it.

Manufacturing industry Leaders also acknowledge, given the heterogeneous nature of the Indian market, a one-size-fits-all or cookie-cutter approach to digital transformation blueprint or its execution is not preferred. We at SAS cannot agree more. Businesses must choose proven partners who invest sufficiently in understanding their business nuances in detail and curate a solution that is tailored while ensuring best practices & learnings across the globe are interspersed into the
solution mix.

As part of our role in digital transformation, we at SAS India take an approach of optimally and sustainably orchestrating all key dimensions.  We consider the 5Ms of manufacturing, i.e., Material, Wo(Man)Power, Machinery, Methods, and Measurement, in a holistic manner that ensures decisions are made to optimize productivity while constraints are thoroughly dealt with.

Each and every SAS engagement starts with a detailed assessment study of its clients’ business. This study facilitates SAS in understanding each of the clients across aforesaid key dimensions. Basis the analysis, SAS draws a client-specific transformation blueprint from the “As-Is” state to “To-Be” or “Desired state,” along with key metrics of how it will impact both financial and qualitative process KPIs. We have many such successful implementations in India; one such partnership with our client has resulted in upwards of $100 million incremental revenue.
