Win eurasia automation 2016 made it clear that digital integration is a key aspect of modern manufacturing – by JAYASHREE MENDES
Industry 4.0 is sweeping the global economy and is transforming virtually every industry. This allows machinery, computers, drives and control devices in the manufacturing process to communicate with each other as well as to coordinate and optimise themselves almost entirely independent of human intervention. It also reduces manufacturing time, cost and energy use while increasing production quality and puts “smart factories” at the centre of the industry.
In this respect, Hannover Fairs Turkey hosted WIN Eurasia Automation 2016 at Istabul, Turkey, from March 17 to 20 at Istanbul TÜYAP Fair and Congress Centre. The fair hosted 1,556 exhibitors from 25 countries such as Austria, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK, and USA in 28.931m2 of space. Among them, Germany, South Korea, China and Taiwan participated as a group pavilion with the support of their governments.
WIN EURASIA Automation brought together integrated solutions for new generation factories. Covering the Automation Eurasia, Electrotech Eurasia, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Eurasia and Materials Handling Eurasia exhibitions, the event provided a compact overview of automation, electric-electronic, hydraulics-pneumatic and handling-internal logistics industries. The exhibitors offered all solutions necessary for a factory from cables to fluid power technologies, driver technologies to software, robot arms to unmanned forklifts under a single roof to their visitors, and the event proved that it is the leading innovation platform in the area for visitors who wish to access the right solutions for the factories of the future.
Bringing exhibitors together in various product groups such as assembly installation systems, linear positioning systems, automation services, communication, network and industrial communication systems, control systems, PLC, SCADA, embedded systems, industrial building automation systems, industrial informatics and software, robot systems and technologies, the event made it possible to observe the impacts of industry 4.0.
Build them up
Vincent King, general manager, Turkey & MENA, Omron Electronics, says, “This is one of the biggest investment for us for the year in Turkey. Manufacturing companies are rapidly increasing the level of investment in automation. There’s a marked increase among even first world countries to adopt new technologies, which was not there earlier, from those developed elsewhere too. In terms of selling the same technologies in AsiaPac, those countries already have a presence of international organisations and entering that market is not easy. Most of these countries prefer to deal with the same organisations from where they sourced their automation products as upgrades become easier. But, yes, we are widely looking at increasing our presence in countries where we do not have a presence.”
Alexander Kühnel, general manager of Hannover Fairs Turkey, stated, “Although we are not that perfect as it could be due to the overall geopolitical circumstances, we managed to have a successful show with peace and harmony. We created a basis for a professional business which was adapted and welcomed by all visitors and exhibitors.”
Automation is the key success factor for the production of today and for the factory of tomorrow. The exhibitors at the WIN EURASIA Automation 2016 represented a range of solutions and services, from automation components to factory automation systems, hydraulics and pneumatics to pumps and valves, materials handling equipment to logistics infrastructure systems. The exhibited products and solutions allow a high efficient production at the highest possible standard. The presented state-of-the-art technologies will open new opportunities for process optimisation.
Mustafa Yilmazer, general manager, Jumo, a German-based company in automation, said, “We mainly work in process automation and our products are mainly used to measure the parameters in liquids and gases. We recently introduced the JUMO (Germany) tecLine HD sensor family for the measurands pH, pH and temperature, and redox potential has been expanded to include additional design variants. The latest variant with a pinhole diaphragm provides the ideal solution for processes with a very high solids content, such as wastewater with sand particles, suspensions, and precipitation/crystallisation reactions. The typical area of application for the sensors is therefore in the process industry.”
Talking shop
Considering that Europe’s forte is not manufacturing as much as it would like to, it prefers to export its products and solutions to those countries that concentrate on such things. Tolga Muşe, engineer for R&D at polaris Electronic, says, “We have been designing and manufacturing hermetic sealing systems for projection welding and parallel seam sealing. We developed the first total system concept and are the first to offer hermetic sealing services for start-up and R&D companies. Today, we manufacture customiseable hermetic sealing systems including projection and seam sealers for microelectronic and optoelectronic packages including solder-reflow, TO and butterfly style packages.”
World automation giant Mitsubishi Electric introduced the latest technologies in industrial automation applications, the FR-F800 new generation of high-level integrated PLC of frequency inverter products. The new generation of factory automation and mechatronics, CNC, said Mitsubishi Electric’s Turkey president Masahiro Fujisawa, is equipped with advanced technology and energy efficient automation solutions.
In addition to the products and solutions, the future of manufacturing sector were in the forefront of technology. The ACD support within the hydraulic and pneumatic sectors focused on the subject. This area also saw Bosch Rexroth, Festo, Parker, Merten Technical and Izmir Hidropar Hydraulic and pneumatic automation in place. The materials handling sections displayed innovative solutions in the domestic logistics industry and logistics and also focused on occupational health and safety.
Enterprise Mobile Solutions that respond to the world with all the institutions need continuous operation. Panasonic introduced high-proof and durable solutions for mobile and tablet, Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad devices with connection standard features, performance, portability and unrivaled durability making it possible to work in the manufacturing sector. Overall, while automation saw more exposure, the energy sector also saw a number of stalls, most of them catering to solar panels, electricity saving and energy generating devices.
