Dassault Systèmes showcases digitalization solutions to realize a thriving Aerospace, Defense and Space Ecosystem at Aero India 2021

With the theme of showcasing “Digitalization to realize a thriving Aerospace, Defense and Space ecosystem,” Dassault Systèmes at the 13th edition of Aero India 2021 showcases technology solutions to Improve Supply Chain Collaboration, to Design for Flexible Manufacturing, to Manage Complex Systems and Accelerate Program Integration and to Deliver High-Performance Operations. Experts from Dassault Systèmes will be present at booth numbers A6.6 and A6.8, to discuss how to bridge the gap between the virtual and real-world to accelerate concept to operations by 50% through industry solution experiences based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The Dassault Systemses both were inaugurated by Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India at the 13th edition of Aero India 2021 showcases technology solutions to improve supply chain collaboration, to design for flexible manufacturing, to manage complex systems, accelerate program integration and to deliver high performance operations.

Across the Aerospace & Defense industry, rising customer expectations for lower costs, higher standards and increased capabilities along with growing program complexity continually make it more challenging to compete. As systems become more complex to design, build and deliver, OEMs and suppliers need to accelerate innovation, drive efficiencies and move to the factory of the future to allow for greater agility on production rates.

Today, supplier-created parts and content represent 50%-60% of the value of an aerospace system. Relentless price pressures are compelling aircraft manufacturers and suppliers to reinvent the way they work with the supply chain. The new model requires a closer partnership to improve visibility, on-time delivery and first-time quality. The “Program Excellence” industry solution experience enables companies to optimize their product strategy and reach a high level of efficiency in program execution. Companies can implement their digital transformation around governance, configuration, collaboration and analytics. The “Engineered to Fly” industry solution experience helps suppliers win more business and more efficiently deliver on time, on budget, on target. Best in class engineering, simulation and project tools delivered on a single platform can improve productivity by up to 40% while reducing total cost of ownership by at least 15%.

Ravikiran Pothukuchi, Director & Industry lead for Aerospace & Defense in India, Dassault Systemes said, “The Aerospace & Defense sector in India is at an inflexion point, given the large-scale modernization and indigenization programs being undertaken by the Government. Companies in this sector have to cater to stakeholder expectations of lower costs, higher standards and increase capabilities along with growing program complexity. As systems become more complex to design, build and deliver, OEMs and suppliers need to accelerate innovation, drive efficiencies and move to the factory of the future to allow for greater agility on production rate.”

Pothukuchi further added that Dassault Systemes in India enables the Aerospace and Defense sector with a new way to conceptualize, design, manufacture, test, certify and sustain new air, land, water and space vehicles. “We are working in domains of Military Aerospace, Civil Aerospace, Defense and Space programs with PSUs and private sector to address indigenous development of military aircraft, components, indigenous development of regional transport vehicles in India, space and UAV MSMEs and startups across the country. We are also working closely with various State Governments to set up Centers of Excellence that can provide necessary training to the current and future generation of engineers, in the Aerospace and Defense industry,” he said

“At Aero India 2021, we will be showcasing Industry Solution Experiences, based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which is tailored to meet the requirements of the Aerospace and Defense industry. These solutions can not only help the industry to design, simulate and manufacture the new generation of advanced aircraft but also help them get ready for the future paradigms such as urban air mobility and vertical take-off/landings,” Pothukuchi explained.

Aerospace companies must integrate new technologies into ever-increasing complex aircraft that can meet passenger demands as well as operator cost and uptime targets. To drive down costs, companies must find efficiencies in how they conceptualize, design, manufacture, test, certify and support new aircraft. It requires a model-based and data-driven approach to drive significant process improvements to transform their ability to deliver on schedule, on cost, and specification. Dassault Systèmes supports them in accelerating program maturity from concept to manufacturing while driving 40-60% of cost out. The “Winning Concept” industry solution experience increases success rates of new concepts and bid proposals by uniting the proposal authoring, concept alternatives definition and analysis trade process on a single business platform. The “Cleared To Operate” industry solution experience helps Aerospace & Defense programs test and certify on time and improve confidence between aviation authorities and their suppliers.

As airlines make decisions on retiring models and reassess their fleet needs, aircraft production and aftermarket services will need to be fundamentally reassessed to account for long-term demand shifts. The “Co-Design to Target” industry solution experience improves program execution to meet cost, schedule and performance targets, avoid potential contract penalties and reduces engineering complexity. The “Ready for Rate” industry solution experience increases the efficiency of existing manufacturing operations, accelerates the ramp-up of new production lines, and enables future factory innovations.

It is critical for the aerospace industry’s resiliency and long term development to address costs. To deliver high-performance operations at optimized costs requires manufacturing execution optimization on the shop floor as well as services optimization for MRO. With the virtual twin, Dassault Systèmes’ dedicated industry solution experiences make it possible to achieve excellence at reduced costs. The “Build To Operate” industry solution experience provides the Manufacturing Operations Management capabilities needed to implement lean practices to monitor, control and validate all aspects of manufacturing with digital precision on a global scale.

At the event, Dassault Systèmes showcased how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform helps in collaborative innovation by developing new ways of working across teams. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform accelerates program maturity with digital continuity across engineering, manufacturing and business functions, drives flexible production by combining virtual planning and real operations for continuous improvement, and creates new business opportunities with the full potential and controlled investment of cloud solutions.
