Tesla enters India, registers subsidiary in Bengaluru

Tesla, a US-based electric vehicle and clean energy company, has opened a fully-owned subsidiary in India with its office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The company has incorporated a subsidiary, Tesla India Motors and Energy, on 8 January 2021 with three directors.

The company was exploring the possibility of setting up an R&D centre based in Bengaluru. It is also in talks with the state government for setting up an assembly plant at Dharwad in North Karnataka.

The company has been registered with an authorised capital of Rs 15 lakh and a paid-up capital of Rs one lakh.
