Power management company Eaton announced being the first company to have its product development processes certified by both the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and global safety science organization UL. The certifications underscore Eaton’s leadership in providing customers with confidence that its connected solutions comply with proven industry standards and guidelines.
“At Eaton, we consider cybersecurity to be a foundational building block that is critical to the design, deployment and operation of digital solutions in the industrial world,” said Michael Regelski, senior vice president and chief technology officer, Electrical Sector at Eaton. He further added, “Our industry-first IEC and UL endorsements mean that our customers can be confident that the products and solutions they buy from us meet the same level of standards recommended by two key standard organizations across the globe.”
Syed Sajjadh Ali, MD Eaton Electrical business India confirmed, “Our customers in India are offered Eaton products which conform to both IEC and UL standards. All our UPS range and the SNMP solutions are developed under Eaton’s secure-by-design process, which is now certified by both UL and IEC. Our LV Switchgear and control gear solutions are also developed under this process, and by simply attaching communication-capable devices, they can be part of your IIoT network,” Syed added.
Syed further stated that Eaton’s SmartWire-DT, which is an innovative communication system for industrial switchgear, as well as automation components in the control panel and peripherals, allow seamless integration of components into the automation architecture via a gateway with any PLC, or the modern HMI/PLC of the XV102 series.
Both IEC 62443-4-1 and UL 2900-1 validated that Eaton processes used to develop products and solutions comply with industry standards.
According to the company, analysts estimate that nearly $950B will be spent on the deployment of industrial internet of things (IIoT) solutions globally by 2025. As organizations expand their digital footprint, it becomes imperative to protect the availability, integrity and confidentiality of their systems. Eaton’s approach to cybersecurity advances trusted environments in a hyperconnected world, by integrating cybersecurity at the foundation of innovation for its product development and design processes.
Developed as part of Eaton’s ongoing commitment to defending trusted environments in an increasingly connected world, the virtual conference brings together Eaton experts, partners and customers from around the world to discuss hard-won lessons, best practices and industry standards to support a more secure tomorrow.
