IMTEX 2017 – CERATIZIT INDIA

Ceratizit launched a number of new products at IMTEX. It included its inserted range and a novel shoulder milling cutter, which offers an advantage of a perfect 900 angle with good surface finish. The inserts receive a peripheral grinding and achieve high surface quality together with excellent axial run-out and concentricity.

Anil Kumar believes that customers must look at maintaining the tools that will help them extend its life. “Longevity of the tool depends on the application. It’s the number of inserts that matter. The consumption of inserts are based on application and the raw material of the component. If it’s alpha or beta titanium or high alloy steel or aluminium, then the Indian market has some of the best tools on offer, he adds.

The company is currently focusing on the aerospace industry as it sees continuous emerging demand from the MSMEs. In the last one year, there have been advancements that based on geometries and coating so that job shop companies can run things faster, and improve their productivity and surface finish. Citing the USP of the tools available from Ceratizit, Kumar says that the company has under one roof an entire range of solid carbon, from GW Cobra to the inserted range. It has two manufacturing plants in India, based out of Kolkata and Bengaluru, and also sources from Austria.

In 2015, Ceratizit acquired a large part of solid carbide tool maker, Cobra Carbide India. Simultaneously, it also acquired the German manufacturer of solid carbide cutting tools KLENK GmbH and augmented its product portfolio with customised solutions for solid carbide round tools.
