Schneider Electric and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) have recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cutting-edge smart campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The collaboration aims to support the New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH), an education initiative by AM/NS India, in providing high-quality engineering and technical education with a focus on manufacturing and sustainability.
Deepak Sharma, the Zone President-Greater India, MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership’s potential to revolutionise the landscape of smart manufacturing and sustainable energy through professional training. He highlighted the comprehensive training opportunities that will be offered to young individuals from diverse backgrounds, equipping them with the necessary digital skills to excel as technicians and engineers.
Under this collaboration, NAMTECH and Schneider Electric will collaborate on designing and delivering short and long-term academic programs. The initial programs will include a Professional Master’s Program in Smart Manufacturing and a Professional Technologist Program in Automation. Additionally, the partners will work together on the development of a smart campus and multiple technical laboratories at the campus in Ahmedabad.
Dilip Oommen, the Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), highlighted that the initiative is aimed at fostering innovation and equipping young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the digital era of manufacturing. Together, the companies are aiming to empower the next generation of manufacturing leaders and contribute to a sustainable future for India, he added.
In addition to academic programs, this partnership will also focus on launching initiatives in academic and capability development. These efforts will ensure the delivery of comprehensive student services, including industry experts as faculty members, organised industry visits, and internship and employment opportunities for students both in India and abroad.
