Technotrans introduces pioneering energy-efficient cooling systems

technotrans is gradually transitioning to the use of environmentally friendly natural refrigerants.

technotrans SE is all set to showcase a range of compact cooling solutions based on Peltier technology at this year’s LASER World of PHOTONICS from 27 to 30 June 2023. The solutions can be utilised for a wide range of laser applications.

technotrans will also be exhibiting a modular auxiliary cooler from the ECOtec series and a 19-inch rack-mount cooler. These systems, equipped with dynamic control technology, offer high energy efficiency and can be customised to meet specific customer requirements. Additionally, technotrans is gradually transitioning to the use of environmentally friendly natural refrigerants.

Ingo Gdanitz, Business Development Manager at technotrans, emphasised that whether it is large, powerful laser systems in metalworking or high-precision miniature lasers in medical technology – reliable thermal management specifically designed for the application is a basic prerequisite for the quality of the results, reproducibility and process reliability

The thermal management specialist’s solutions effectively cool the lasers and peripheral components such as laser heads and integrated motors. Temperature control plays a vital role in the melting and cooling process, where maintaining a consistent temperature at the laser source and beam-emitting components ensures consistent burn-in depth.

At the trade fair, technotrans will showcase compact Peltier cooling units with an impressive output of up to 600 watts. These devices operate silently and with low vibration levels due to the absence of moving parts. Refrigeration is created with the help of Peltier elements and plate-shaped semiconductors, wherein plates semiconductors react particularly quickly and immediately adapt the cooling power when the applied voltage changes. This enables a fast and precise control of the feed flow temperature.

The ECOtec.chiller, a highly flexible modular system suitable for various work and production processes, will also be displayed at the technotrans booth. The use of refrigerants in the ECOtec series is up to 60 percent lower than in conventional solutions. By employing dynamic control technology and speed-controlled compressors, the solution adjusts the cooling capacity as needed.

Gdanitz explained that the highly energy-efficient cooling solutions of the company ensure constant process conditions. Only the cooling capacity needed at the very moment is called upon. Depending on the application, this can result in energy savings of up to 30% compared to conventional technology.

In line with its commitment to sustainability and compliance with regulations, technotrans is gradually incorporating natural refrigerants with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) into its solutions. Gdanitz highlighted the use of the refrigerant R290 and stated that by utilising R290, the company provides users with an environmentally friendly alternative to F-gases. Its excellent thermodynamic properties also contribute to improved energy efficiency.
