Tata Technologies has partnered with TiHAN IIT Hyderabad to collaborate in the areas of Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). They aim to develop innovative solutions and accelerators that help automotive companies reduce technology incubation time and cost while developing SDVs with autonomous technologies. The collaboration will focus on developing platforms and proofs of concept that optimise product development timelines and upskilling Tata Technologies engineers at TiHAN in new technology areas. This partnership is expected to drive the future of the automotive technology industry towards sustainability, connectivity, and technological advancement.
Warren Harris, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Technologies, expressed his thoughts on the collaboration with IIT Hyderabad’s Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation Systems (TiHAN). He stated that Tata Technologies is committed to helping automotive companies address product development challenges and achieve better and safer products through their expertise in conceptualization, development, and realisation. With this collaboration, they aim to support innovations in the area of self-driving vehicles (SDVs) and associated technologies, leveraging their 25+ years of automotive domain knowledge and global customer network. The goal is to develop a comprehensive set of solutions and accelerators for the automotive industry and to upskill engineers on emerging technologies, ultimately driving the advancement of the industry as a whole.
Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, congratulated TiHAN-IITH and Tata Technologies on their new collaboration. He noted that the collaboration has the potential to spur significant innovation in the automotive industry. Murty also highlighted the TiHAN Testbed, which is a dedicated facility for testing and validating a wide range of autonomous vehicle use cases, and the first-of-its-kind in the country. He expressed his confidence that this collaboration will drive progress in innovative solutions for autonomous navigation, with the potential for global impact.
Sriram Lakshminarayanan, President and Chief Technical Officer, Tata Technologies, shared his excitement about the new collaboration with TiHAN-IITH. He expressed the belief that the collaboration will allow them to leverage their collective expertise and resources to explore use cases for self-driving vehicles (SDVs) by adopting modern System on Chips (SoCs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Over the Air (OTA) frameworks, and connected technologies. He emphasised that this collaboration will contribute to the creation of solutions in SDVs, which aligns with Tata Technologies’ commitment to advancing the industry towards a technologically advanced future.
Prof. P. Rajalakshmi, Project Director, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, shared her thoughts on the collaboration with Tata Technologies. She noted that TiHAN at IITH was established with the objective of focusing on the research and development of autonomous and intelligent navigation systems. She expressed her belief that the collaboration with Tata Technologies has the potential to create valuable collaborative research efforts that focus on innovative smart mobility solutions, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and self-driving vehicles (SDVs).
