Godrej Tooling, a business unit of Godrej & Boyce, has partnered with Renmakch to collaborate on Machinery & Plant projects for Indian Railways and Metro Rail. The companies will offer world-class equipment that is ‘Made in India’. This alliance allows Godrej & Boyce to provide a complete value chain ranging from design to build for the Railways and also bid on larger projects. The partnership aims to introduce the latest technology for the Rail industry from Europe and other developed countries and indigenize it for India.
The collaboration is timely, with the Indian Railways investing in new generation trains such as Vande Bharat and subsequently new workshops and depots. Godrej & Boyce aims to offer a turnkey solution to the Indian Railways, fueling India’s self-reliance and improving the speed, quality, and safety of railway and metro coaches during maintenance. The company plans to acquire a 20-30% market share in this sector over the next 5 years.
Godrej Tooling and Renmakch have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of workshop equipment, contributing to the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives by developing depot equipment that is an import substitute. Godrej Tooling supplies jigs & fixtures, automation solutions, and workshop equipment for Railway workshops & Metro depots. Pankaj Abhyankar, Senior Vice President & Business Head of Godrej Tooling, expressed his excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to strengthen the railway network across India.
