Godrej Aerospace wins order for manufacturing eight modules of the DRDO turbojet engine

Becomes the first Indian private company to manufacture this class of engine

Godrej Aerospace has secured an order for manufacturing eight modules of the DRDO Engine for aerial applications, making it the first Indian private company to win this order. The company’s strong infrastructure, expertise in working with unique materials, and decades of experience in producing liquid engines for rockets, as well as its service to global aviation majors, helped it win the order over more than 25 competing companies. This achievement not only opens up opportunities for future projects to be manufactured in India but also positions Godrej Aerospace to meet the increasing demand for various types of engines from global majors interested in manufacturing in India.

Maneck Behramkamdin, AVP & Business Head, Godrej Aerospace, expressed his excitement about the milestone and highlighted the company’s commitment to making India self-reliant in aerospace manufacturing, contributing to the country’s economic growth, and serving the needs of global majors in the aviation and defense sector. The experience gained from this project will also allow the company to develop modules for civil aviation engines in the future. Godrej Aerospace has invested approximately 500 crores in aerospace and defense projects and incorporated new processes into its manufacturing processes to support the Indian government’s Make-In-India initiative and help India achieve self-sufficiency in developing indigenous advanced fighter jet engines.
